We at BIW Isolierstoffe GmbH are a medium-sized family business and are now the third generation European market leader in the field of silicone processing and technical textiles. The market in China has been growing rapidly in our business area for decades. The automotive sector of our company in particular is growing disproportionately in China. Initially, large corporations went to China, but soon the pressure on suppliers to open a plant in China (local sourcing) also grew and, in addition, the enormous market potential of the Chinese market aroused the interest of many medium-sized companies. Since then, Germany's strong family-run SMEs in particular have been faced with a challenge: entering the Chinese market - but how? We too were faced with the decision and question of how to take the big step into the Chinese market and succeed. Our contact with Startup Factory suddenly opened up new opportunities for a medium-sized company. China suddenly grew a little closer to the German location and became much more tangible.
As a family business, we attach great importance to trust, integrity and communication. We believe that a constant, intensive exchange between the Chinese and German sites is a must. The Startup Factory makes these principles of cooperation possible for us. With local support and German experts for the Chinese economy on site, a new basis is offered that has enabled us to gain a smooth entry into the Chinese business world. Since 2015, we have been operating locally in China with the Startup Factory team as support and advisors.
The location in Kunshan has been successfully expanded over the years. So much so that we have rented our own hall for space reasons - but still receive support from the Startup Factory. Our site is now an independent location, but one that benefits from the clear advantages of the Startup Factory. As a result, we feel that we are in very good hands in Germany in our cooperation with the Startup Factory and our local team in China always has a competent contact person on site as well as a mouthpiece in Germany who is familiar with local customs.
